An angiogram is a procedure that is used to visualize the blood vessels (arteries), detect problems with functioning of the arteries and veins, and also provide treatment for various conditions.
During the procedure, a contrast agent is injected into the blood vessel through the angiography catheter under local anesthesia. Most commonly, the area used for the catheter insertion is the top of a leg where the femoral artery and femoral vein are located.
Preparing for Your Visit
The patient will be contacted directly by the ordering physician's office, or a medical imaging booking clerk, with the necessary information.
Exam Time
30-60 minutes - please note that under certain circumstances the procedure may be prolonged.
